Short project description:

We developed a new control concept according to EN 81-1 for a self-ascending, cable-drawn elevator that was built by ABS Transportbahnen (Doppelmayr Group).

The main challenge of this project resulted from its complexity. The multilayered safety technology, data connection via highly available radio transmission and the Beckhoff safety components required comprehensive planning and careful functionality and safety tests.
The elevator holds 25 persons and travels up to the mountain station on a 200m-long rail system with a 28° incline and 3 stops. The stationary 75kW drive accelerates the elevator car to 2m/s via a specialised frequency inverter that is customised for elevators. During the main season, up to 250 ascents a day are completed.

Communication between the control components in the mountain station and the moving car is maintained via a radio transmission system (DataEagle) by Schildknecht. Safety-relevant signals are also sent via this connection. The car is equipped with a brake-arresting device, speed controller, overload devices, emergency system, UPS device, lighting and a mobile manual operation unit.

We also installed special devices requested by the customer such as computer-generated speech, surveillance camera and servicing cage. The building control system, fire detector system and track lighting system were also integrated in the elevator.
The customised operating panel that we developed in Windows C# displays the operation status of the elevator at a glance.

Short project description:

We were chosen as the prime contractor by Top-City-Kufstein for the complete refurbishment of the inclined elevator. The mechanical system was manufactured by Ludwig Steurer Maschinen und Seilbahnbau GmbH & Co KG according to our specifications.

The inclined elevator is self-ascending and based on the same concept as the inclined elevator in Hohenwerfen.

Communication between the control components of the station and the moving car is maintained via the DataEagle radio transmission system by Schildknecht. All safety-relevant signals are also sent via this connection.

Standard monitors with customised operating panels that we developed in Windows C# display the operation status of the elevator at a glance.

Short project description:

The Oberstdorf Skiing Club commissioned us with the complete refurbishment of the control system for its inclined elevator up the Schattenberg ski jump (6 years old) as well as its electrical system.

The inclined elevator in the Oberstdorf ski-jumping arena “Erdinger Arena” is utilised for tourism and ski-jumping events.

The elevator has an automatic level-control system. The control system was designed and manufactured according to EN 81.1.

Facts:

  • Self-ascending (cf. building elevator) with fully automatic doors in car, mountain and valley stations
  • Safety catch device on the elevator cabin
  • Automatic snow removal (assessment via integrated weather station)
  • Travelling distance: 194m
  • Altitude difference: 84m
  • Incline: 15-35°
  • Cabin capacity: 40 persons
  • Number of trips per year: approx. 40,000

The implementation period comprised approx. 2 months (November – December). The elevator was released for operation by TÜV shortly before the Four Hills Tournament without any need for reworking.

After the first 2 years of its operation, we are happy to confirm that the availability of the elevator is in the region of 100%.

The main challenge of this project resulted from its high level of complexity.

The multilayered safety technology, data connection via highly available radio transmission and the Beckhoff safety components required comprehensive planning and careful functionality and safety tests.
The inclined conveyor plant links the main building of the company with its new extension that is located at a higher altitude.

What makes this facility special is the fact that it can convey persons or material or both at the same time. The facility was built according to the principles of cable-car technology. Communication between the control components at the station and the moving cabin is maintained via the DataEagle radio transmission system by Schildknecht. Safety-relevant signals are also sent via this connection.
